Earlier this year I applied to be part of Cardiff Life’s International Women’s Day cover shoot and I want to share my application with you.

Tell us why you’d like to be included in our International Women’s Day edition.

“I’d love to be included on behalf of all the women who are running small businesses while also being the primary caregiver for their children.

Cardiff Life Magazine

There are so many incredible women in Cardiff quietly making it work - chasing their dreams, building businesses, and at the same time showing up every day for their children’s emotional and physical needs. Both roles come with huge demands, but they’re also the most rewarding jobs I’ve ever had the privilege of doing. I’d love to help shine a light on just how much women are juggling, often without much recognition.

My name is Rhiannon Ayres and I’m the founder of Arianwen Jewellery, a brand built around uniquely personal, heartfelt designs, made to order in solid fine silver and set with vibrant gemstones. I’m a mum of two and, like many women, I was forced to rethink my career after being faced with rising childcare costs and the reality of missing out on my children’s early years. Just three months into maternity leave with my second child, Arianwen, I felt pulled to start my own business.

Arianwen Jewellery is named after my daughter, whose Welsh name means “white silver”, and everything I do is driven by my children.

Building this business has allowed me to stay present for them while creating something meaningful for others, and for myself.

In under 18 months, Arianwen Jewellery has grown beyond anything I could have imagined. Creating deeply personal pieces that mark life’s most meaningful moments has been an honour.

Being featured by Rochelle Humes during her Ladies Who Launch live show was a huge milestone, and I’m now preparing to launch my first mixed-metals collection. This year has been one of growth, confidence, and learning to trust my gut. It’s a reminder of just how much busy mums are capable of.”
